Tu Tu Cute Photography Event

What little girl doesn't like to play dress-up...and what better way to showcase your little angel than an abundance of petty skirts, tu tu's, and fun at the 2nd annual Tu Tu Cute Photography event?

This year's event will highlight the little girl in eclectic fashion. Hosted at the newly renovated Hamilton House in downtown Blytheville, each session will contain an array of tu-tu's and petty skirts from the collection of Ana Grace Designs, as well as rustic and vintage furniture pieces provided by Kenny's Furniture of Blytheville.

The session fee of $55 covers up to 2 children and includes 45 minutes of creative camera time. We will roam the halls of the vintage home, letting kids be kids, capturing authentic and heartfelt images you will cherish forever.

With the fee you also receive an 8x8 boutique print featuring your favorite image. All other prints are purchased a la carte.

The Wells Family: Soul Reflections Maternity Session

Something is in the air...tiny signs of spring tease us here in the northeastern portion of Arkansas...bringing hope of life and new beginnings. Babies also seem to be in abundance this time or year, one of which was little Gavin, the first newborn to parents Jonathan and Leslie. I traveled to their beautiful home in Paragould to capture the little fella. And yes, that is a Harley;)

The Girls are Turning 2!!

Each year we get Addie, our daughter, and three of her friends, all of which have their birthdays around the same time, and do a fun photo session. This year, with each of the girls turning 2, was nothing short of an adventure. We had fingers in noses, chicken nuggets in hands, and skittles abound. Imagine trying to get each girl to stay in place AND control lighting...all-in-all we captured some wonderful memories!

Smith Family Arrival...

It was a pleasure working with the Smith family during their multi-session maternity/newborn package (click here for package information). The kids were great, braving some cold weather, as were the parents, who wanted something a bit more than the typical "traditional" photography when it came to documenting their new arrival. Of course the highlight of it all was meeting baby Cruz. He let us capture a few images of those captivating eyes before he drifted off the dreamland. It is going to be fun watching him grow..

Tazalate Peals: GHS

This senior has one of the most unique names I've heard: Meet Tazalate Peals, a graduating senior from Gosnell High School. Tazalate was somewhat shy at first, but warmed up in the summer heat and came alive with some poses, most of which were nothing more that her own style, standing around talking, and me saying, "don't move!" I think she walked away from the session with the realization that she rocked it out. Congratulations Tazalate, and good luck!

Custom Designed Photobooks

It isn't often I have enough product together all at once to showcase some of what we offer. So I thought I would share a little about our photobooks prior to client pick-up. These books have been a hit among senior clients and weddings, and has become a great compliment to our small event sessions, such as the 50th Anniversary Celebration you see below.

Each book contains 40 pages of all images from your session, and includes several full-page slides that are custom-designed to define you. Each book is hardbound and is printed with the highest quality paper. Sizes offered are 8x10 "shelf book, 10x13 coffee-table book, and a 12x12 showcase book. Model Session

I recently attended a workshop and had the chance to shoot various models from across the region. I was a little nervous, with it being my first interaction with professional models; as well as sporting newly acquired gear that I really didn't have too much experience with. However, the atmosphere was great and my nerves were calmed. There was a lot of valuable instruction on technique and lighting...and I came home with a few great shots. Florida Escape...

It is these months, where the wind is brick, the sky is gloomy, and everything is dead, when I like to look back on our summer vacation and dream of the warmth. I thought that I would share those moments with you, as well.

As you most-likely know, attempting any activity where you try to control your young kids' movements and postures (i.e., photography session) can be a daunting task. Such was that during our summer vacation to Florida. However, we managed to capture one of our most-favorite images of our kids.

Addie, being the adventure-monger that she is, and Gavin, the protector, sets the stage for the image. It is simple, Addie wants in the ocean, Gavin is scared of sharks.! We think the first shot is a candid, untarnished example of childhood innocence and playfulness... and needless to say, we have a large image-box print on our mantle...

The Walker Kids

So, my New Years resolution should be updating the blog...again, yet another fall session I am just now blogging! And in looking through our files, there are several more..lol.

This is the Walker family from Missouri. Gramma, who was tons of fun and full of life, wanted a portrait with her grandbabies. We managed to sneak in a few more shots as well..some of which made for a beautiful collage! They were a blast and we look forward to another session in the near future!

Blount-Warren Wedding

April and I had the pleasure of shooting the beautiful wedding of David Blount and Amy Warren this past fall. We were excited about the venue, The First Presbyterian Church. Despite the fear of rain, a gorgeous sunny day emerged and played host to this magnificent occasion. The bride was stunning, the service charming, and a day full of tears and laughter was documented to forever cherish.

Jennifer Allen: Class of 2010

Meet Jennifer. From the first click of the shutter I knew the session was going to be good. Her style and personality was exactly what we are about. She was up for anything, and didn't let the cold, wet weather stop her. In fact, she suggested that she lay on the wet ground to get one of her favorite shots! Ask any photographer or retail store clerk and they will tell you; Christmas comes early. Such was the occasion this year at Party Belles in downtown Blytheville. Daphne and Elizabeth contacted us with an awesome Christmas event idea, and the public response was amazing! During the mid-November weekend we made some great friends, played with some great kids, and captured some great images.

The Marion Family Addition...

We often find ourselves saying that we want to make a difference; wanting our lives to reflect giving and virtue. However, we slip into a state of complacency, often doing what is the easiest, or what may please or look good to others, or what is "good enough." For that reason, we found it an honor to have had a session with our good friends, the Marions. They boldly and triumphantly did what they were called to do. It wasn't easy, or the popular thing to do, but they felt the burden to extend hope beyond what we call home.

In these pictures you will meet MiKehl, one of the most pleasant kids you'll ever encounter. He was adopted from Ethiopia this year, and we were quick to get a session in. He loves having his pictures made, and it was a joy to hear him say "clicka, clicka" in his rugged accent after every snap of the camera.

Every smile is genuine, and they were a pleasure to capture!

Maegan: Class of 2010

Maegan was referred to us by another client, and upon seeing some of our work she was immediately on board. Maegan will graduate from Manila High in May, and was simply just fun to shoot. As you might guess, Maegan is all about the piano. She even struck a few cords during the session, and it quite the pianist. This was another session that was hard to narrow down for the blog post, as there were so many great images of this lovely young lady. Congratulations and good luck Maegan!!

When we first met RyAnne, we new it was going to be a busy shoot. This little darling kept us moving, and reminded us that we needed to get back into shape. However, April did a fantastic job of capturing her spirit, those precious dimples, and playfulness. My wife really connects well with children! I think mom was worried that RyAnne was moving too much during the session, but was re-assured that it was for the better. Mom and Dad were delighted when they saw their proofs, as were we. We can't wait for the upcoming maternity and newborn sessions with this awesome family: RyAnne is gonna be a big sister!

Enchanted Christmas

Here's a quick rundown on our Christmas special this year: Entitled "Enchanted Christmas." We are teaming up with The Party Belles, located in downtown Blytheville.

Elizabeth and Daphne have welcomed us into their store and will supply Christmas Tu-Tu's angel wings, and bows for the girls, and for "Mr. Christmas," the boys can be adorned with top hats, canes, and cumber buns...plus much more!

The dates are November 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, and 21st. We are offering a 30 minute family and child session for a session fee of $45, due on the session date. Prints are available a la carte.

Cody Kelley: Gosnell Class of 2010

Yet another mid-summer, heat filled day of shooting. And yet another round with poison ivy! But sometimes, to get the most out of a photo session, you have to sacrifice; and getting a shot wit Cody next to the tree that once held his childhood clubhouse was worth the days of itching. It's no secret that Cody likes hunting and his dog. We think the session went well and many compliments have followed.

Lauryn: BHS Class of 2010

Hope Sullivan: Gosnell High Class of 2010

You may recognize Hope as our new headline image on the website, and rightfully so. And you can bet that she will be a vital part of our upcoming senior site (wink). We were delightfully surprised that Hope was able to rock it out with all of the traffic in some of the places we went. It can rattle the nerves posing on a busy street in rush hour, but Hope did fantastic as you can tell. Hope will graduate this May from Gosnell, and by getting to know her during the session, she has a bright future ahead of her. Congrats Hope, and good luck!

Haylen's 1st Birthday

It doesn't get any cuter than letting a baby demolish their 1st birthday cake. It takes little effort on the part of the photographer, and Haylen was no exception. Another joy of the job is being able to watch the kids grow up. As depicted in these set of pictures, Haylen has become quite the beauty queen, winning in various pageants across the state. It was a joy to watch her play with her trophies. Also interesting is the desk that mom brought, which is a bit of a family treasure. I tried thinking of ways to creatively incorporate it into the shoot... Haylen was game!

You'll see more of this little angle when we get the family session on here in a few weeks.

Brittany: AHS Class of 2010

We had the privilege of meeting Brittany a few months back, and she was definitely into our ideas. Brittany will grace the halls of Armorel High for one last year before she graduates in the spring of 2010. She was great fun to be around and April and I had a blast with the session. There were plenty of shoes. Lot's of laughter. And the prom dress rocked!!

Zach: GHS 2010

Zach and I both suffered from this photoshoot. This was the 1st of 2 sessions this summer where I total disregard for mother nature, and left with weeks of poison ivy pain. I found out later that he had the same luck. April was smart, she did her shooting in the clearing. I think it was worth it, as we got some great images.

It's hard to keep track of what I need to blog and what I've forgotten about. And if you're signed up as a fan on our Facebook page, then you've seen these before. But with a beautiful little girl like Maddie, they are worth seeing again.

We've gotten to photograph this girl several times, with family photos last year and cheer photos in the spring, and every time we enjoy her wonderful spirit and personality. This girl is ALL ABOUT taking pictures, which makes our job that much easier.

This was, by far, the quickest session we've had. But mother-nature held off long enough to get a few shots in, just before some pretty heavy rain. Mom, who is a big supporter of our work, wanted field flower photos...we were happy to oblige:)

We shot this just as summer was beginning to bear down on this part of the country, and the term HOT is used loosely! Meet Kristin. In more ways than one, she is not the ordinary senior; nor did she want ordinary senior pictures. We've become quite fond of finding unique places...but with Kristin, we wanted to take it a little further...a night-time shoot, mid-summer, in Arkansas. You may now call us crazy.

We knew Kristin would be great. She's very energetic, trendy, and willing to try just about anything we asked. She also has a background in acting and stage drama, which takes away any "camera-shyness." The shoot went well, aside from mosquitoes, and she was very pleased with the results. Good luck Kristin in ALL that you do!

The Dickson Family

Amanda: GHS CLass of 2010

Amanda will graduate from Gosnell High School next May. She was nothing less than fun. We headed into town 1st, and got a few shots by an old abandoned boat. But we knew that this girl felt right at home when we headed to the country, and to Big Lake at her request. She all about her guns and the outdoors. It provided for a very interesting shoot amidst mosquitoes and left-behind fishing wire.

We LOVE symbolism. But the 1st photo requires some explaining. A few years back, Amanda's home burned to the ground. Everything was destroyed except her tiny baby shoes that her father had bronzed some time before the fire. This 1st shot is on the road leading to where her home once stood...and the shoes are obvious.

Congratulations Amanda! We hope you have a great summer and very successful senior year!

The Chandlers

We drive by this old abandoned house at least twice a week...and from day one, we knew that we had to do a shoot there. We finally saw opportunity when the Chandler's called wanting some photos of the kids. We pitched the idea to the kids, who, of course, were game. This place rocked as far as boys being boys...and big sister even got in on the act! What a great bunch of kids!

Brilee: Proudly 2 years old

So, April and this darling hit it off from the beginning, and it smooth sailing from there. Brilee is turning 2, and had been prepped all week to meet "Mrs. April." Brilee was perfect. She proudly showed us her stuff throughout the entire shoot, not even caring about the heat or the weeds we put her in ,or even mommy crying as she watched. When viewing these in post-process, we were amazed that we got so many great shots in under an hour...it was hard not to post them all:)

S.W.A.T.

S.W.A.T. is a youth group from Kennett, MO. They saw our work and wanted something rocked out to hang in their newly-built youth room. These are full-size, 24x36 posters that may help out! It was a very hot day and we had only minutes to get some shots in...The underlying concept behind the "construction-site" was their idea...they are a group who is "under construction." They were a great bunch of kids and we wish them all the best...

Jake's Gun Shots

We did a short photo shoot a few months back of Jake, and his prized shotgun. It was an adventure, climbing into the thick brush and under a bridge that was home to at least a thousand hornet's nests. We managed to grab a few frames without disturbing anything and emerged unscathed. Mom thinks the final results were worth the risk...

From a photographer's point-of-view, these are good pictures. Us "pixel-peepers" could closely examine them, judging their angles, composition, lighting, tone, and all the other things that we think make a good picture. However, to a dad, no matter what the final result may be, these are priceless images.

Meet Addison, one-half of our daily inspiration, dancing with mommy! This little angel has taught us to much in her nearly one-and-a-half years of life. And her favorite thing, aside from shoes, purses, and "bubba," is to dance. It was quite an honor to be the one behind the camera for these quick shots...

One of which was his love for his dad's motorcycle, which we think rocked, and an old pick-up truck nestled among the trees at his grandparent's place. Here are a few photos from the Pageant we shot in Marmaduke, Arkansas earlier this month. The cool thing about this event was it was filmed by TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras, and will be aired this summer. It was quite different from any other photoshoot we've done, and the day was VERY long. But we had a great time, met some cool "tv" people, and ended up with a few good shots.

We often try to keep away from posting a lot of photos in our blogs. However, this is on of those "over-kill" exceptions. Tu-Tu Cute Event

Our event at the beginning of the month was a success. It was easy, though, with all the great kids who came through. Everyone seemed to have a great time in a great place to take pictures; while little sister was getting her photos done, the brother and I a few rounds of air hockey and Playstation 3. Tu- Tu- Cute Event Preview

Our Tu-Tu- Cute Photo Event was a great success and we captured some wonderful pictures. Though we haven't processed those yet, we did have a "tu-tu" photo shoot a week prior to the actual event...and even after battling an odd rain and cold front (the temperature went from 65 to 45 degrees the moment we arrived on location) the shivering kids were troopers and stuck it out enabling us to get some pretty cool shots. I wouldn't ordinarily blog about our personal life, but we are constantly realizing that our business (at least the creative side of it) is a part of our lives...and we find ourselves incorporating it into various events and milestones. This past January was Addison's 1st birthday, and April came up with the brilliant idea of taking a group photo during the party, consisting of Addison's best friends....or "the girls" as we like to call them. We were recently asked to take some photos of Kenny's Furniture and Flooring here in Blytheville. They were looking for a complete make-over, including a new logo and cutting edge furniture advertisement to match the personality of their new building. We were contacted by coaches of the gosnell elementary cheerleading squad who had seen our work and wanted to venture away from the "traditional" cheer pictures. We were a little leary of the idea at first...not knowing to much about cheerleaders (much less 21 of them). But, all-in-all, everything went well and everyone loved the results.

This past week we did a small shoot for Blytheville's new Remax agent. We needed something that meant business, but also reflected the exuberance in our subject. Of course, no cool graphical elements on this one...but we managed to sneak in these otherwise non-traditional shots. Congrats to Christa Lutrell, and good luck!

2008, for us, was a year of opportunity and change. In early May, we began our adventure into the world of photography. With the encouragement of some of great friends, we were able to transform our passion of photographic art into the smiles and satisfaction of our clients. Our journey through the hills and valleys of all there is to learn, and all the mistakes there are to make, have brought us closer, and more passionate about helping capture moments that people cherish forever.

We've also come to learn that the journey never ends, and we strive with each day to dive further into each new project, learning and developing a style that truly captures a client. We exhaustively research other artists and techniques, and truly live life at "1/100th of a second."

There is nothing better than seeing the smiles of brides, or see the tears of happy parents reviewing there child's photographs; all the money in the world cannot buy that! THAT is why we do this....THAT is what it is all about!
